Caroline Croft serves as the Diplomat in Residence at Â鶹Æƽâ°æ. Previously she served nearly thirty years in the Department of State as the Director of Business Outreach, senior officer and policy adviser on transnational affairs in the Department of State’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs. She provided policy guidance and advice on regional political/military matters, defense, terrorism, human rights, trafficking in persons, religious freedom, nonproliferation, nuclear energy, democracy issues, economic, narcotics, legal reform, human rights, developmental assistance, consular, and international organizations including the United Nations, Organization of American States and the Inter-American Development Bank.
Ms. Croft also served as the Executive Director of the Washington, DC office of the United States Mission to the United Nations, Senior Adviser for the bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, Director of Arts America, and International Programs Director of the White House Millennium Council. Prior to joining the Department of State in 1992, she served as the Executive Director of the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Foundation, the Executive Director of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Director of International Programs for the Congressional Human Rights Foundation, Director of the Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs at Department of Health and Human Services, and served as an adviser to Senator Edward M. Kennedy in the US Senate.
