- Matt came to Communications through the humanities, as a scholar of Japanese studies. After working for the Embassy of Japan for a decade, he became interested in the influence of Japanese culture -- particularly popular culture -- on internet communications. His scholarly interests include semiotics, visual cultures, and platform moderation.
